Accumen vs Hunter.io
Accumen and Hunter.io both help you find email addresses, but they start from different places. This page is written by Accumen, so we are a competitor and you should read it that way. Everything about Hunter below is taken from Hunter's own public website, checked on 6 October 2026. Prices and limits change, so check their pricing page for what is current.
The short version
- Hunter is an email-finding and verification tool with outreach added: you give it a domain or a name and it returns addresses, with a verifier and sequences alongside.
- Accumen starts one step earlier. You describe who you want to reach, and it researches each company, names the person who decides, proves the address and drafts the sequence from what the company has recently done.
- If you already know whom to contact and need the address, Hunter is built for that, and at a low price per lookup. If you do not yet know who to contact at a company, or want a reason to write, Accumen is built for that.
Side by side
- Starting point: Hunter describes Domain Search ("find email addresses of a company") and Email Finder ("find any professional's email address"). Accumen starts from your ideal customer and finds the company and the person.
- Email checks: Hunter describes an Email Verifier that returns a status and a confidence score. Accumen labels each address verified, inferred or not found, and exports only verified addresses as verified. Compare how each treats an address it could not prove.
- Data: Hunter describes finding addresses from public sources. Accumen keeps no stored contact lists and researches each company when you search.
- Reason to write: Accumen finds a recent event at each company and builds a five-step sequence on it. Hunter describes Sequences for sending cold email and Signals for intent data.
- Sending: Hunter includes sequences. Accumen does not send; you send from your own mailbox.
- Memory: Accumen's Vault remembers who you have already contacted.
Prices, as each publishes them
The two are priced in different units, so compare them with care. Hunter prices in credits, and its published plans on 6 October 2026 were Free (50 credits a month), Starter ($49 a month, or $34 billed annually, 2,000 credits a month), Growth ($149, or $104 annually, 10,000 credits) and Scale ($299, or $209 annually, 25,000 credits).
Accumen's published plans on 6 October 2026 were Free (25 verified contacts a month), Starter ($50 a month, 150 verified contacts), Solo ($79 a month, 250 verified contacts), Team ($199 a month, 750 verified contacts), Enterprise ($1,499 a month, 3,000 verified contacts).
A Hunter credit covers a lookup such as a search or a verification. An Accumen contact is a verified, named decision-maker at a company you chose, with research behind it. Hunter is cheaper per lookup and offers far larger volumes. Accumen is priced for fewer, more carefully researched contacts.
Where Hunter is the better choice
- You already have the names or the companies and need addresses, quickly and cheaply.
- You want to verify a list you already have.
- You need large volumes of lookups.
- You want finding, verifying and sending in one familiar tool.
Where Accumen is the better choice
- You do not know who the decision-maker is at each company.
- You write to a defined set of companies and want a recent, real reason to write to each.
- You want each result labelled by how far it was checked, and a drafted sequence to start from.
- You are a founder, a small team, an agency or a professional-services firm that wants fewer, better contacts.
Can you use both?
Yes. Some teams use Accumen to find and research the person at each company, and a verifier to re-check an older list. Whatever you use, check addresses before you send and watch your bounce rate.
How to decide
- Decide whether your problem is finding the person or finding their address.
- Try both on the same ten companies and compare: was the person right, was the address proven, and was there a reason to write?
- Compare the cost per contact you would actually send to, not the cost per lookup.
- Pick the one whose results you would be comfortable sending under your own name.
